Everything I can see should be laid in front of me as it’s all mine.
From the land to the sea. The flowers and the bees.
Yeah they’re all mine.
So you say, as you lay claim to all the things that could never be yours.
I can see the rising seas. They’re coming after me, but it’s alright.
From the heights I have climbed I will make it through the night.
Yeah I’m alright.
So you say, but you’re not the ones who undeservedly will suffer this one.
So what do you own?
What can you claim of this dirt that when you’re gone will still know your name?
It won’t remember your name.

Be Here Now

Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Be here, now.
Still your mind and hear the sound of hearts beating all around.
Find your peace as love surrounds.
It’s a fire that won’t burn out.
With everything vying for attention, I miss the humanness all around.
When it’s easier to experience the now later than to be here now.
Be here now.
Still your mind and hear the sound of hearts beating all around.
Find your peace as love surrounds.
It’s a fire that won’t burn out.

Prey

She opens her eyes to let in the light, but she’ll need more than your laid hands to make it through the night.
She lets out a cry begging for something more than your delusions that can’t stop what reality has in store.
What did you do? You created life... then didn’t see it through.
Your words are not enough.
Your thoughts are not enough.
Where was your love as her eyes were letting go of the light?
It’s not enough.
It was never enough.
They’re shielding their ears and closing their eyes as the hell outside the closet door burns through the night.
They’re hiding plans to escape the fear of hands that just bring suffering and not the love they claim to revere.
Where was your love as their eyes were being stripped of their light?
Where was your love as their eyes were letting go of the light?

How long must we sing these songs?
Until everyone sings along in unison.
Are you proud of the roads you’ve paved?
Are you proud of the paths you’ve made?
For those who come after you or for those who might have less than you.
I want to be proud of the paths we’ve made.
I want to be proud of the roads we’ve paved.
For a little one who I call “son” and well, everyone.
